An asteroid will fly by Earth the closest in 22 years, and at 1.4 times the distance between the planet and the Moon.

The asteroid size is 2,000ft (600m) across next Tuesday.

Recent theories have used a growing body of evidence to hypothesize that an asteroid crashing into Earth caused the extinction of dinosaurs by spewing dust and debris filled with iridium (rare on Earth but commonly found in asteroids) into Earth's atmosphere and causing enormous tidal waves, hurrican winds, drop in sea levels, which in turn caused sudden change in Earth's nature thereby throwing all plants, animals, vegation into a tailspin. The asteroid believed to be the culprit was more than 7 miles wide that impacted the Earth 65 million years ago near the Yucatan peninsula. The asteroid created a massive crater more than 180 miles wide.
