The cycle of the Moon was used as a method of timekeeping. Some theories suggest that the massive stones at Stonehenge were used to predict eclipses. Two invisible points called lunar nodes were used to mark the intersection of the plane of the Earth's orbit. Stonehenge creators must have spent many decades watching the Moons risings and settings to determine the cycle of these lunar nodes. This information was likely passed along with successive generations.

Some suggest that the Stonehenge creators were afraid of the fearsome event of an eclipse and the darkening of the Sun or the Moon, hence the effort spent in creating Stonehenge. This may have been part of the reason behind Stonehenge, along with agricultural reasons.

Stonehenge preserves this information - the trick is decoding it as much of the information is lost.
